Wilderness and Waves Update: Navigating Tariffs and Keeping Prices Fair

At Wilderness and Waves, we believe in transparency. As a small outdoor brand, we’ve recently been impacted by global tariffs and shipping delays — challenges that many businesses are quietly facing. In this update, we’re pulling back the curtain to explain what’s happening, how it’s affecting pricing and shipping times, and what we’re doing to keep your experience as smooth and affordable as possible.

Why Shipping Takes 7–14 Business Days

Most products on our website now ship within 7–14 business days. While this might feel longer than expected, there’s a lot that happens after you click “order.”

Once your item is processed, it must be:

  • Packed and handed off for shipping
  • Transported to a global port and queued for departure
  • Cleared through U.S. customs — which can take several days
  • Transferred to a domestic carrier like UPS or USPS for final delivery

Customs inspections, port congestion, and shipping container backlogs can all delay that process. While we strive to ship quickly, these delays are sometimes unavoidable in international logistics. We appreciate your patience and promise to keep you updated along the way.

How Tariffs Are Raising Product Costs

Recent tariff increases on imported goods — especially those made with aluminum, steel, nylon, and plastic — are having a big impact on outdoor gear manufacturing. These materials are essential for items like tents, hiking backpacks, sleeping pads, and outdoor cookware.

Many of our global manufacturing partners now face higher raw material costs, which affects the price of finished products. In short, it costs more to make the same high-quality gear than it did even six months ago.

We’ve worked hard to keep our prices fair and competitive despite these increases. In some cases, we’ve absorbed cost hikes internally. In others, prices may adjust slightly — but only when absolutely necessary. We remain committed to offering the best value possible without compromising on quality.

What We’re Doing to Lessen the Impact

We're not sitting back — we’re actively working to improve and future-proof our fulfillment strategy.

  • Partnering with multiple manufacturers to avoid single-source bottlenecks
  • Exploring U.S.-based warehouse options to reduce delivery times
  • Adding new gear lines made from alternative materials less affected by tariffs

These steps help us maintain pricing stability, reduce delays, and increase overall efficiency. Our goal is to build a more flexible and responsive supply chain that better serves you — no matter what’s happening globally.
